SPECIAL NOTICE REGARDING NCAA RULE 13.11.1.2

Head Of The Charles Regatta has introduced additional rule changes (below), effective immediately, to address recent changes to NCAA Bylaw 13.11.1.2 Competition Against Prospective Student Athletes

The Regatta values the participation of both college and high school athletes, and has made these changes to allow participation by both groups of athletes while not jeapordizing their ability to compete in future intercollegiate contests. These additions are limited to women’s event divisions only. The restrictions apply to US high school students participating in both school AND club based programs.

These rules are in addition to the General Entry Rules:
Changes
Club Fours/Eights Women: No person (coxswain included) enrolled in high school.
Lightweight Fours/Eights Women: No person (coxswain included) enrolled in high school.
Youth Double Women: Entries where one or both of the rowers are enrolled in high school must notify the regatta and will start separately from other entries.
Championship Fours/Eights Women: No person (coxswain included) enrolled in high school.

14. Seeding/Starting Order:...Seeding of double scullers will follow the same procedure, [insert] except in the Youth Double Women's event-division, when entries where one or both of the rowers are enrolled in high school will start after all other entries.

Notes:
College teams interested in competing in Youth events should consult with their NCAA compliance office on whether they may compete under the’subvarsity’ clause of the NCAA rule.

Single scullers who are also members of NCAA recognized rowing teams may be eligible to compete as ‘unaffiliated.’ Please consult with your NCAA compliance officer if you have questions about how this may affect you.
