Where do I find racing photographs for purchase?

When and where are the Awards Ceremonies?

The Awards Ceremonies take place at the Rowing and Fitness Expo at 4:30pm and 6pm on Saturday and 3:00pm and 5:30pm on Sunday.

I have someone rowing in the Regatta. Where should I meet him/her after the race?

Competitors racing in singles and doubles will likely land at the Singles and Double Launch Site (SADL) at Magazine Beach in Cambridge. Athletes in fours and eights will land at the Finish Area Launch Site (FALS) in Herter Park on Soldiers Field Road in Boston. Find a map here and coordinate a rendezvous.

What is the best place to watch?

Most spectators enjoy watching between the Anderson and Weeks bridges, along the halfway point of the race. With the Weld Exhibition on the Cambridge side, and the Reunion Village on the Boston side, there is plenty to see, do, and taste while watching your favorite crews.

What time is racing?

Racing runs from 8AM-5PM on both Saturday and Sunday, October 19 & 20, 2013.

When is the Regatta?

The Regatta is held on the penultimate full-weekend in October. 2013: Saturday, October 19 & Sunday, October 20 2014: Saturday, October 18 & Sunday, October 19 2015: Saturday, October 17 & Sunday, October 18

LODGING AND TRANSPORTATION:

Is there handicap parking on-site? And are locations handicap accessible?

Some handicap parking is available along Soldiers Field Road near the Finish line in Brighton. State-issued handicap permit required. Drop-off is available at Lot 1 on Soldiers Field Road near the Eliot Bridge. Map available here. Paved walking paths run throughout the Finish area. Our ticketed hospitality tent, the Eliot Bridge Enclosure, is also handicap accessible.

Is there a shuttle?

Head Of The Charles runs two shuttle routes. One runs around the course and the other runs to the parking area on Birmingham Parkway in Brighton.  Details available here.

How long does it take to walk from the start of the race to the finish?

The race course runs three miles upstream from the Boston University Boathouse to Christian Herter Park. The course typically takes over an hour to walk, taking into account traffic and crowds.

Will there be any road closures?

Memorial Drive in Cambridge will be closed from the Cambridge Boat Club to Western Avenue from 8AM-7PM on Saturday and Sunday. Refer to our Parking and Transportation Map for more information.

Where should I park?

Parking is very limited. Please find details on parking areas and restrictions here. We suggest that, whenever possible, you take public transportation. Visit our transportation page for details on how to get here using the MBTA. If you must drive, please see more details on parking and road closures here.

How do I get to the Regatta from the airport and how long does it take?

We suggest taking the Silver line on the T to the Red line and the Red line to Harvard Square. Visit the MBTA website for more details. Typically, this will take about 1 hour. Otherwise, cabs are available from the airport and can get you to the site in about 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic.

VOLUNTEERING:

Can I volunteer?

There are a wide variety of volunteer opportunities at the HOCR for both rowers and non-rowers.  Registration and information available here.  Registration will open in late summer. Spots fill quickly. Volunteer FAQs here.

REGATTA WEEKEND:

Are pets allowed?

Of course! Please be advised that crowds are dense and we welcome visitors of all ages.

What else is there to do onsite?

In addition to world-class racing, check out sampling from our partners at the Weld Exhibition. Shop our on-site Brooks Brothers retail stores at the Weld Exhibition and Finish area. Browse rowing equipment and gear at the Rowing and Fitness Expo. Pick up a souvenir at one of our Licensed Merchandise locations at the Weld Exhibition, Cambridge Boat Club, or Rowing and Fitness Expo. Relax with a cold beer at the Reunion Village. Or just grab a bite and cheer on the crews!

Can I buy tickets for any of the hospitality tents?

Yes! Tickets for the Reunion Village, our more casual hospitality venue, are available onsite for $5/person. Inside the Reunion Village, food is available from Boston Burger Company, as well as beer and wine. Tickets to the Eliot Bridge Enclosure, our more upscale hospitality tent, must be purchased in advance. Tickets include a continental breakfast, gourmet lunch buffet from Island Creek Oyster Bar, afternoon coffee, and drink tickets (cash bar also available).

Will there be food available for purchase?

Food will be available for purchase from vendors at the Weld Exhibition, Reunion Village, Cambridge Boat Club, and Rowing and Fitness Expo/Finish Line area. More details on the wide variety of food vendors available here

Will there be any bathrooms for public use?

There will be an abundance of port-a-johns onsite.

SHOPPING:

I forgot to grab a souvenir. Is there anything available online?

Poster and programs are available through the Regatta office. T-shirts and other items are available through our licensed merchandise providers.  Get all the information you need in our Online Shop.

Where can I purchase posters, programs and HOCR licensed merchandise?

Sales locations are set up along the river at the Rowing and Fitness Expo, Cambridge Boat Club, and Weld Exhibition.
