When does Volunteer Registration open?

Registration will open in late Summer 2014. Please check back here or on our Facebook and Twitter pages for updates.

How do I sign up?

When Volunteer Registration opens, you can register online through our Volunteer Registration database. If you volunteered with us in 2011 or 2012, please login to your volunteer account you created last year. Please follow steps to have your username and password emailed to you if you’ve forgotten them. New users will need to create a volunteer account to register.

How old do volunteers need to be?

Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. Please contact volunteer@hocr.org if you have any questions or concerns.

Can I sign up for multiple committees?

Yes, but please be careful to avoid signing up for overlapping or conflicting shifts.

Am I automatically accepted after I sign up?

No. Committee chairs review each volunteer application individually and may contact you for additional information.

How will I know if I’m accepted?

You will know you are accepted when your application status changes from “Requested” to “Accepted.” If you are declined, your application will show as “Declined.” You will be alerted via email when there are changes to your application status in your Volunteer account, and your Committee Chair will follow up with your volunteer schedule via email.

I still haven’t heard anything about my Volunteer applications and they are still listed as “Requested” in my account. What should I do?

All of our committees are run by volunteer co-chairs, so please be patient. If significant time has elapsed, please contact volunteer@hocr.org.

I can’t find an open committee. What should I do?

You can email volunteer@hocr.org and our volunteer coordinator may be able to assist you. Please bear in mind, however, that our volunteer positions tend to fill very quickly!

Can I update my contact information in my volunteer account?

Yes. Simply login to your account, select “My HOCR Account” from the menu bar and click on “Contact Information.”

Can I change the shifts I’ve signed up for?

You can cancel your initial shift request by logging into your account and then register for an additional shift (if available).

I’m no longer available to volunteer. How do I cancel?

If you have been in touch with your committee’s co-chair, please contact them directly. Otherwise, please email volunteer@hocr.org.

I’m not available on Regatta weekend, but I’d still like to help out. Are there any committees that have volunteer opportunities prior to Regatta weekend?

Yes! Please contact volunteer@hocr.org. You will also see shift dates posted in the registration database listing committees with advance volunteer opportunities.

What should I do after I’ve been accepted?

Committee co-chairs will get in touch with their volunteers directly with important information on when and where to meet, what to bring, parking, as well as any other committee-specific materials. Committees are chaired by volunteers, so please be patient.
